SAILING & PERMACULTURE – EXPLORING NEW CALEDONIA

I left Vanuatu after 2,5 months living on a sailboat there and jumped on a new boat, called Irie II. The owner is from Texas and it was so nice of him to give me a ride to Noumea.
He normally sails around the world single-handed since many years and I was the first crew he ever had for a passage. I bought lots of fruit and veggies to last us for the 2-3 day crossing but the wind was so weak and it took us longer than that.

i went snorkelling and saw an octopus & a small shark and i also tried to improve my surf skills a couple of times but i dont think i am not getting any better BUT i saw dolphins next to me in the water so that was pretty amazing. i went out to eat my favourite food in byron which is acai-bowls and indian food. chill vibes in BYRON – small hippietown

i arrived at 7 am in byron and all the cafes where still closed. i went to the beach and watched the sunrise and a view people bicycling on the street with the surfboards in their arms.

then i went to a cafe and grabbed a chai-latte. unfortunately they didn’t have wifi there and i couldn’t write my couchsurfing host in byron bay that i am here and he can pick me up anytime. there was another customer in the cafe and i asked him if he knows where there is a place with wifi here. he gave me his phone to contact my host and he said he can bring me to his place because it’s close to his work, so nice.
