on the way back from lake tekapo alana dropped me off in ashburton which was on the way to christchurch. she booked the ferry up to the northisland because she hasn’t been there yet.
we had a really good time travelling together. i got lucky that she picked me up when i hitchhiked down to the catlins. maybe we see each other again when i am back in the northisland.
i hitchhiked from ashburton to my next job in methven. i waited maybe two minutes until i got picked up and a woman who lives in methven gave me a ride. it took us only 20 minutes to get there.
i arrived in the afternoon at the ski lodge in methven. the owner lindi & bert are really lovely and welcoming people and they made a great vegetarian burger for me.
their 8 months old puppy is really cute & i could always take her for a walk. everyone in the neighbourhood loves the dog. her name is luca.. normally it’s a name for a boy in austria but here it is the other way around 😀
now it’s not busy here in the ski lodge because it’s autumn and there is no snow on the mountains. we had around 4 guests every day.. most of them were from germany and they were always really friendly when the found out that i speak german.. 😀
my work included helping in the morning with preparing the breakfast for the guests & after that i gave the whole kitchen a good clean, cleaned the chairs, windows, walked the puppy and cooked the evening-meals.
i wanted to get back to my healthy-routine. i often went for a run, did a lot of stretching, reading, writing, ..
i really enjoyed it having more time to do what i want. most of the time it was raining so it was a perfect weather for reading my new books which i got for free in a library.
one was about the differences between the thinking of men and women. when i read the book i thought that my thinking is like through the eyes of men. 😀
maybe thats why i prefer to hang around with guys.. because they are easy to read & don’t make a lot of drama and problems where there are none 😀
on my last day in methven i went with a guy who lives in christchurch to a place called castle hill.
it’s close to arthurs pass which has amazing ski areas. it’s the place where they filmed the chronicle of narnia. he had a car with four wheel drive so we took the alternative road to drive back to methven. i love driving on those kinds of roads.
when i returned back to the ski lodge lindi was cooking a delicious dinner with kumara & pumpkin, mushroom balls or something like this for me. very tasty !!
for dessert we had a hokey pokey ice cream. traditional new zealand!
